SOLDIER TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

Open Meeting 

A special board meeting of Soldier Township was called to order on February 21, 2024, at 12:15 p.m. Present were Mike Mathes (Clerk), Karl McNorton (Trustee), Jerry Glasgow (Treasurer), Audree Guzman (Township Administrator), John Tipton (Road Superintendent), and Chad Lady (Acting Fire Chief). 

Guests in attendance were – Lee Hendricks (Township attorney) 

Mike Mathes made a motion to go into executive session under the attorney/client privilege exception to discuss employment contracts for thirty (30) minutes, to include the Township attorney, in the board meeting room. Motion was seconded by Karl McNorton. Motion passed 3-0. 

The board came out of executive session at 12:45 p.m. A motion was made by Jerry Glasgow to go into executive session under the attorney/client privilege exception to discuss employment contracts for fifty (50) minutes, to include the Township attorney, in the board meeting room. Motion was seconded by Karl McNorton. Motion carried 3-0. 

The board came out of executive session at 1:35 p.m. and returned to an open meeting. 

Following discussion concerning the open Fire Chief position, Jerry Glasgow made a motion to advertise the position in local publications for thirty (30) days. The position will be advertised with an annual salary of $79,500 plus benefits. Motion was seconded by Karl McNorton. Motion carried 3-0. 

Jerry Glasgow made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:44 p.m. Motion was seconded by Karl McNorton and carried with a vote of 3-0.
